Inspired from pyramid roofs that form a prominent part of the tribal Van Gujjar houses prevalent in Himalayan regions, our design had a simple intent — catering to the client’s vision through a compact and climate-responsive design.
The cuboidal form helps accommodate amenities like kitchen, bedroom, and toilet, while the pyramid ensures optimum sunlight exposure. Besides an eccentric intersection of forms and in-built furniture, this mud retreat also features a glass vent that doubles as a window.
To elevate the urban abode with earth-bending elements, we infused rammed earth walls, terracotta tiles, and solar panels, treading a design approach that goes less on the carbon footprint and more on the green.
